YEREVAN. - Reasons behind the suicide of Gevorg Mkrtchyan, owner of Armenia’s Eifel store chain, were his debts.  

Gevorg Mkrtchyan had large debts both in Armenian and abroad, according to the source of Armenian News – NEWS.am.

The famous businessman shot himself from a legally owned weapon. There were no conflicts in the family on the suicide day. Hearing the sound of shots, the family members went out to the garden and found the corpse of the man.

Criminal case has been opened under Article 110 of the Armenian Criminal Code (causing somebody to commit suicide), Armenia’s Investigative Committee reports.

Gevorg Mkrtchyan shot himself Monday morning. Mkrtchyan left a note, in which he asked not to blame anyone.

The businessman has three children.
