A call was received, on Monday at 7:15pm, informing that a traffic accident had occurred in the vicinity of Jajur village in Armenia’s Shirak Province, there were injured, and rescuers were needed.

A fire and rescue squad was dispatched to the scene.

It was found out that a Mitsubishi Pajero—with driver 35-year-old O. P.—had gone off road on the Gyumri-Vanadzor motorway, crashed into the roadside barrier, and slid into the canyon below.

Prior to the fire and rescue workers’ arrival at the scene, however, 22-year-old S. M., 35-year-old O. P., 21-year-old S. P., 17-year-old R. P., V. T., and 17-year-old Kh. D. were taken to the Gyumri city hospital, where doctors said the injured were in critical condition.

Two of the victims are British citizens, but Armenian.

Representatives from the Gyumri medical center told Armenian News-NEWS.am that four people had received outpatient treatment and were discharged from hospital.

One of the injured is in Traumatology Department and in moderate condition. The other patient was sent to Saint Gregory the Illuminator Medical Center in capital city Yerevan.

They are both British citizens, and they had gone for a visit to Jajur.
