YEREVAN. – The Minister of Agriculture of Armenia, Sergo Karapetyan, on Tuesday visited the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, on the second day of his visit to this country.

The agriculture ministers of the two countries had tête-à-tête, informed the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Armenia. They discussed the avenues for expanding Armenia-Georgia relations in the agricultural sector.

The parties noted that it is indispensable to exert respective efforts especially toward increasing the volume of trade, and starting joint ventures.

Ministers Sergo Karapetyan and Otar Danelia also pointed to the opportunities for exchange of agricultural knowhow between the two countries.

At the end of the talk, the two ministers held a joint news conference.

The Armenian minister especially highlighted the need for developing partnership in the promotion of agricultural cooperatives, and introduction of an agricultural insurance system.

They also attached a special importance to intensifying mutual visits between the two neighboring countries.

The ministers once again stressed the importance of promoting entrepreneurship toward the establishment of new joint ventures.

Minister Karapetyan also visited the Food Safety Agency and Research Center of Georgia.

Subsequently, Sergo Karapetyan traveled to Georgia’s Kakheti region, where he visited a wine company, and an agricultural services’ center.
