YEREVAN. – The revision of gas price is not on the agenda of Gazprom Armenia company, spokesperson for the company Shushan Sardaryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Her comment comes the day after Russia legalized the reduced price for natural gas which Armenia will purchase at the border.
Negotiations between the parties to reduce the gas price were underway for long time, taking into account the effect of exchange rate fluctuations.
“The current gas price is calculated given the rate of $416/1 AMD, but since the beginning of this year the official exchange rate has been significantly different from the current rate,” she added.
Therefore, the company must submit a claim for a rate revision, but the parties reached agreement to reduce the price on the border at the same time maintaining the current tariff for the domestic consumer market.
Draft of the respective Armenian-Russian agreement was approved at Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting of the Government of Armenia. The price is US$165 per 1,000 cubic meters.
