YEREVAN. – The society of Armenia gave a relatively good assessment to the demeanor by President Serzh Sargsyan and senior police officials during the demonstrations that were stages two months ago at Baghramyan Avenue in capital city Yerevan, and against the decision to raise the price of electricity in the country.

This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Gallup International Association Armenia Office. The survey was conducted in Yerevan and in the provinces, from July 6 through 13, and with 1,106 respondents.

Director of the Gallup Armenia Office, Aram Navasardyan, noted the aforesaid at a press conference on Friday.

Accordingly, 13,  23 and 52 percent of the respondents assessed rather positively, negatively and definitely negatively, in that order, President Sargsyan’s conduct during the Electric Yerevan demonstrations.

The demeanor of Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan and Yerevan Deputy Police Chief Valeri Osipyan, on the other hand, received a definitely positive and a positive evaluation by 1 and 18 percent, respectively, of the respondents. Another 25 and 20 percent assessed rather negatively while 46 and 43 percent evaluated definitely negatively, correspondingly, their respective conduct.

The conduct of  Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Yervand Zakharyan, and chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission, Robert Nazaryan, however, received the lowest scores.
