YEREVAN. – Armenia has a historic chance to find the way out of the difficult situation, political analyst and diplomat Arman Navasardyan believes.

He said Armenia is considered as a buffer state between East and West against the background of the processes occurring in the world.

"At the end of the day, neither the U.S. nor Russia will be throwing nuclear bombs at each other. Moreover, everyone can see what challenges humanity faces today, and realize that not a single country can cope with them alone. There should be a link, which is Armenia,” the diplomat said.

Thus, Yerevan should adopt the right approach to current realities and to show maximum flexibility to use them to its advantage.

Touching upon Armenian leadership’s attempts to carry out policy of complementarity, the ambassador noted that today it is the only correct tactics. He noted that the entry into the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEC), contrary to many pessimistic predictions, did not hit the relations of Armenia and the West.

“The international community reacted to this step in a favorable way. At different levels, it was said that Yerevan, being a member of the Eurasian Union, may work with the West and Europe. It is noteworthy that this is not about the economic, but strategic cooperation. In other words, Armenia could be a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, and to cooperate with NATO,” he concluded.
