YEREVAN. – The Armenian lawmakers are likely to gather for a special meeting to debate constitutional amendments before the start of the fall four-day session of the parliament, RPA MP Karine Achemyan told reporters.
The MP believes the constitutional amendments are necessary if “we want to have a dynamic growth and to increase the role of political parties”. Effective management is impossible without stable majority, she added.
“By saying stable majority we should not mean the Republican Party of Armenia only. The opposition has extremely low ratings,” Achemyan emphasized, adding that changes in a model with enable to develop “the culture of referendums”.
Special commission on constitutional reforms approved the draft constitutional amendments and justifications, and have submitted it to the President of Armenia.
The President, in turn, has already submitted the draft to the National Assembly.
