The European Union has been ahead of reviewing European Neighborhood Policy when it comes to the east, EU Commissioner on European Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn said.

“In the east we are in some ways ahead of the ENP review: we are already working towards differentiation with Armenia and Azerbaijan. Our objective is always to boost the resilience of a country's economy and governance, so it can make its own free and sovereign decisions ,” he said in his speech during the European External Action Service Annual Heads' of Delegation conference on Thursday.

The Commissioner noted that the Riga Eastern Partnership summit in May was successful in keeping the dynamics of the Eastern Partnership alive without ignoring the changing political and security landscape.

“Riga identified four priority areas for the future: governance, mobility, market opportunities and interconnectivity. Success in these areas will demonstrate the benefits that the ENP can bring. That is the best antidote to Russian propaganda,” he added.
