PACE delegate from France Pascale Crozon reminded about the Armenian Genocide during the debates on the urgent need for a real European asylum system that took place on Tuesday.

During her speech, the delegate noted that in the past Europe has been confronted with significant population movements, both intra-European, “such as on the occasions of the Spanish war or the fall of the wall in Berlin, or extra-European, in the cases of the Armenian genocide, the war in Vietnam or the return of our citizens after the end of colonisation.”

On Tuesday the delegates approved resolution calling for changes in asylum system in Europe.

Without reform, there was a risk states might suspend or withdraw from the Dublin system, which would cause “chaos and confusion”, the Assembly warned.
