YEREVAN. – After renovation the Armenian NPP will become safer than at the time of creation, head of Rosatom corporation Sergey Kiriyebjo said during a briefing with Armenian Energy Minister Yervand Zakharyan.
“Extension of the term of the NPP does not mean that we will give it to the state in which it was at the start. No, the station should be much safer than when it was built,” he said.
All works related to safety at the Russian stations, and the Armenian NPP are conducted taking into account not only the national requirements of Armenia and Russia, but also the standards of the IAEA, he added.
“In addition, we are considering the possibility of increasing the efficiency of the turbine and power plants. That is, repair can give economic effect. But the main thing for us is safety,” he added.
