YEREVAN. - 16 years have passed since the day of terrorist attack led by Nairi Hunanyan in Armenia’s Parliament building.
Parliament Speaker Karen Demirchyan, PM Vazgen Sargsyan, Deputy Speakers Yuri Bakhshyan and Ruben Miroyan, Minister of Operative Affairs Leonard Petrosyan, MPs Armenak Armenakyan, Henrikh Abrahamyan and Michael Kotanyan fell victims to the terrorists.
The judicial proceedings against the perpetrators of the terrorist attack lasted from 2001 to 2003. 6 members of the group – leader NAiri Hunanyan, his brother Karen Hunanyan, their uncle Vram Galstyan, Derenik Bejanyan, Edik Grigoryan and Ashot Knyazyan - were given a life sentence. Hamlet Sargsyan was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment.
The organizers of the terrorist attack remain unknown up to now.
