The City of Ravenna, in Italy, has recognized the Armenian Genocide.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the respective resolution, which the Ravenna City Council had unanimously adopted, notes that considering the relevant petition by the Union of Armenians of Italy as well as the fact that this tragedy of the Armenians has been recognized as “genocide” by the United Nations Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights, European Parliament, Chamber of Deputies of Italy, and Pope Francis—in his remarks during the Holy Mass on April 12 at the St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican and devoted to the Armenian Genocide Centennial—, the Ravenna City Council recognizes the Armenian Genocide and expresses its solidarity with the Armenian people, on the 100th anniversary of the genocide.
