Armenia has received a top prize in the awards ceremony of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) international organization’s global summit, which kicked off Wednesday in Mexico City.

The theme of this year’s international awards is “Improving Public Service by Use of Principles of Open Government.”

More than 35 from the 66 OGP member countries have applied for these awards. Armenia participated in the awards this year for the first time and won first place in the Asia-Pacific region.

Armenia had submitted for these awards a program whose objective is to enhance the efficiency of the country’s local governments, and improve—by way of open government—the public service being provided to the residents of Armenia’s communities.
