YEREVAN. - Adoption by Paraguay’s Senate of the resolution on acknowledging and condemning the Armenian Genocide proves that within wide political circles countries believe in justice and human rights. Mario Nalpantian, ARF-Dashnaktsutyun member and Deputy-Chairman of Socialist International Committee for the CIS, Caucasus and Black Sea, who takes active part in Armenian National Committee, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am.

This, according to him, is indicative of the fact that Paraguay realizes that the Armenian nation was subjected to humiliation pursuant to a plan developed at state level. “Paraguay realizes that the Armenian nation should exercise its rights, and we can rely on their support. Due to this, we also feel certain support in the issue of recognizing the Nagorno-Karabakh, and, why not, that of Armenia’s development,” Nalpantian said.

The text of the resolution, adopted on October 29 by the Senate of Paraguay reads: “The Senate of the Republic of Paraguay recognizes the genocide of the Armenian people in the period 1915-1923, committed by the Turkish-Ottoman Empire, when commemorating this year the centenary of that crime against humanity.”
