YEREVAN. - Armenia PM Hovik Abrahamyan and Chairman of Russia's Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko  today discussed issues on bilateral cooperation.

Following a private meeting, talks in extended format took place, Armenian government press-service reports.  

On behalf of the government and himself, Abrahamyan offered condolences with regard to the crash of the Russian jet in Egypt, noting that the Armenian nation shares the pain of the brotherly Russian nation.

He also highly appreciated Matviyenko’s contribution to the development of ties between the two countries, expressing hope that her visit will serve their further enhancement.  According to the PM, there is a great potential for developing ties, and significant role in this belongs to the forum to be held in Yerevan tomorrow.

The PM expressed conviction that the agreements to be reached during the forum will give a new impetus to the cooperation in the areas of trade and economy, as well as IT, science, education and culture.

For her part, Valentina Matviyenko noted the active dialogue between the parliaments and governments of both countries. According to her, Armenia’s representation in the CSTO and EEU will contribute to implementing joint programs in the sphere of security and economy.  

The parties also discussed a number of issues on the agenda of the Armenian-Russian relations, regional issues as well as the referendum on constitutional amendments to be held in Armenia on December 6.
