President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan held a consultation today with the administration of Armenia’s Kotayk province. The participants discussed the socioeconomic situation of the province for 2014 and January-September 2015.

“Kotayk province has good industrial traditions. Many plants serving the military and industrial complex of the Soviet Union were placed in the cities of Abovyan, Hrazdan, and Charentsavan. Now we have the opportunity to re-launch their operation but, of course, not for issuing the previous production, but a modern and competitive one, whose list is available in the Ministry of Economy,” Sargsyan said.

The President also referred to the wonderful nature of the province, however, noting that its climate is not very favorable for agriculture. “Thus, we have to develop super-modern agriculture here, which will ensure 100% high productivity. I mean, modern big greenhouses, as well as orchards with drop irrigation,” he added.

He instructed the province governor Karapet Guloyan and Economy Minister Karen Chshmarityan to conduct inventory of industrial and other territories for new business programs.

The Minister of Transport and Communication was instructed to develop proposals on the complete restoration of landslide sections of the motor road connecting Yerevan to Garni temple and Geghard cathedral.
