YEREVAN. - The parliamentary form of governance will abruptly accelerate the democratization processes, Armenia’s PM Hovik Abrahamyan announced today at the festive event held at Yerevan’s Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex. on occasion of the World Youth Day
The PM congratulated the youth on the event, noting that they - and especially the students - are tomorrow’s representatives of Armenia.
“You must become the human capital which will be doomed to compete with the sellers of natural resources. Moreover, you are doomed to win them. The world changed before the eyes of one generation. Those changes will be more radical and visible before the eyes of your generation. Your children will choose professions which do not even exist yet,” Abrahamyan said.
“To ensure a well-organized system, President Serzh Sargsyan has initiated constitutional amendments. The parliamentary system will give an opportunity for competition not between persons, but parties, ideas and principles. One must believe the society and respect its choice. Some people say that the parliamentary system is not principally a bad one, but our parties are not ready for it. My answer [to this] is simple: “But when [will they be ready]?” If we don’t do anything today, tomorrow we will definitely not be ready,” the PM said.
