YEREVAN. - The age of the state of Azerbaijan doesn’t exceed that of the current Azerbaijani president even twice. Armenia’s Deputy FM Shavarsh Kocharyan said the aforementioned in response to Tert.am’s question, referring to the anti-Armenian statements of the Azerbaijani President at the UNESCO session. 

“By his speech at the 38th session of UNESCO General Assembly, the leader of Azerbaijan made a serious contribution not to the sphere of culture, but, alas, to that of falsification culture.

The age of the state of Azerbaijan –which first appeared on the world map in 1918 -  doesn’t exceed that of the current Azerbaijani president even twice. This, however, doesn’t prevent that president from announcing that Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, mentioned in the works of Strabo, Plutarch and other antic authors, are the historic territories of Azerbaijan,” Kocharyan said.  

According to him, Azerbaijan has failed to implement the main demand of the UN Security Council Resolution 1993, namely the “immediate cessation of all hostilities”. During the last 22 years it has also failed to implement the demands on “the restoration of economic, transport and energy links in the region” and “refrain[ing] from any action that will obstruct a peaceful solution of the problem” “This doesn’t prevent the Azerbaijani President from insisting that his selective and distorted citations from the resolutions must be implemented in several days or even hours.”

Baku constantly threats with war and carries out military provocations against Armenia and Karabakh, which doesn’t prevent the Azerbaijani leader from announcing that the Armenian side doesn’t want peace.

Azerbaijan, which has adopted a policy of national terror, carried out massacres and ethnic cleansing of Armenians in the territory of the whole country, including in Baku with 250,000 Armenian population, which again doesn’t prevent the Azerbaijani leader from trying to accuse the Armenian side of terrorism,” the FM said.

“Azerbaijan is barbarically destroying the Armenian historical monuments. But this doesn’t at all prevent him from insisting that his country is a cradle of multiculturalism and tolerance.

Azerbaijan opposes the territorial integrity to the exercise of the Nagorno-Karabakh people’s right to self-determination, which again doesn’t prevent the Azerbaijani President from announcing that the international law allegedly supports their ambitions.

The only thing to remind is that there is a lie, there is an appalling lie and there is also Azerbaijani state propaganda,” Shavarsh Kocharyan said.
