YEREVAN. – Shadow employment is around 20 percent in Armenia.
Head of the Department of Labor Statistics at the National Statistical Service, Lusine Kalantaryan, noted the aforementioned at a press conference on Monday.
In her words, however, this indicator does not factor in the self-employed in the country’s farms, where there is no employment contract, and therefore this number is received based on the quarterly surveys conducted in households.
Kalantaryan added that, overall, there are 1.1 million employed in Armenia, but this does not include the country’s migrant workers abroad.
