YEREVAN. - Armenia’s commitment to deepen comprehensive cooperation with the EU is firm.  Armenian Parliament Speaker Galust Sahakyan said the aforementioned at the meeting with the head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Mr. Piotr Switalski.

Sahakyan expressed hope that through his activity, the Ambassador will contribute to the development and deepening of ties between Armenia and EU, the Armenian parliament press-service reports. Referring to the dynamic development of ties between Armenia and EU, Sahakyan stressed the importance of the cooperation with the EU Delegation. In this context, Sahakyan specifically pointed out to the decision of the Council of Europe to provide mandate for talks on working out new legal framework of relations with Armenia. The Speaker also expressed hope that the project worked out as a result of talks will set up comprehensive cooperation.

For his part, Piotr Switalski said that the Armenian parliament plays an important role in the relations between Armenian and EU. Referring to the constitutional amendments in Armenia, the Ambassador underscored the imporatnce of the effective cooperation between Armenia and the Venice Commission. Switalski also touched on the process of facilitating the issuance of entrance visas to the European countries, specifically noting that following this process shift to the visa-free regime should be made.
