Armenia FM Edward Nalbandian and High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini had a meeting today, during which they discussed issues related to the liberalization of visa regime between Armenia and EU.

At the meeting held in Brussels, the sides expressed satisfaction with the talks on the new legal framework document between Armenia and EU, Armenia’s MFA press-service reports. In this framework, FM Nalbandian expressed hope that through active discussions, Armenia and EU will manage to reach an agreement on the new framework agreement, which will reflect the volume and depth of the bilateral relations, pointing out to the new milestones for mutual cooperation.

Nalbandian also stressed the importance of the EU Council decision, which reflects the principle of differentiation of partners, considering the democratic reforms, human rights protection, rule of law and progress in the fulfillment of obligations. The sides also touched on the dialogue around the visa regime liberalization.

Besides, the FM briefed the High Representative on the results of the constitutional referendum held in Armenia yesterday.

The interlocutors referred to the issues of international struggle against terrorism, a number of regional and international issues, as well as the process of fulfilling the agreement on Iran’s Nuclear Program.

Nalbandian also briefed Mogherini on the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group aimed at the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The High Representative reiterated the EU support to the activity of the OSCE Minsk Group.

The Armenian FM confirmed his invitation to Moghernini to visit Armenia.
