STEPANAKERT. – On December 3, the representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Azerbaijan visited Armenian prisoner of war Arsen Baghdasaryan, who crossed the Line of Contact on December 26, 2014, and provided him with an opportunity to exchange family news.
Communication Officer of the ICRC Mission in Nagorno-Karabakh, Eteri Musayelyan, told about the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
“The visit was conducted in line with the standard ICRC procedures,” Musayelyan added. “According to its mandate, the ICRC visits detainees to monitor their treatment and conditions of detention, and helps to ensure that they are able to maintain contact with their families.”
Nagorno-Karabakh Republic citizen Arsen Baghdasaryan was taken into Azerbaijani captivity on December 26 of the year past. And within the framework of a hastily concocted case, he was charged with “sabotage” and sentenced to fifteen years in a maximum security prison.
