YEREVAN. – The Government of the Republic of Armenia (RA) on Thursday approved a strategy named “Ways for Long-Term Development of the RA Energy System,” and this has an interesting forecast with respect to the Russian natural gas being supplied to Armenia, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reported.

‘“It is known that one of the conditions for Russia’s accession into the World Trade Organization [(WTO)] is that the sale of energy resources (…) should be conducted on equal profitability. If this condition is fulfilled, the price of gas imported from Russia will seek to the European gas prices,’ this strategic plan records.

“This means that if the WTO accession conditions are fulfilled, the price of Russian gas being supplied to Armenia will [gradually] increase about three times,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
