The NATO Partnerships and Cooperative Security Committee + Armenia meeting was convened Thursday at NATO Headquarters.

The participating Armenian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ashot Hovakimian, and First Deputy Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan.

The interlocutors discussed the 2014-2015 evaluation report of the Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP).

At the request of the meeting participants, the Armenian delegation also presented the current situation on the line of contact between the Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces.

In turn, representatives of the NATO member states’ delegations highly appreciated Armenia’s cooperation with NATO, and expressed their support to the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ efforts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. 

Next, the two Armenian deputy ministers met with Ambassador Thrasyvoulos Terry Stamatopoulos, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy.

The parties conferred on the avenues for further development of Armenia-NATO political dialogue, and reflected on regional matters.

Hovakimian and Tonoyan also had a talk with Ambassador Marriët Schuurman, NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security.

They discussed the steps toward the ongoing discourse along the lines of the Armenia-NATO IPAP 2014-2016, and regarding the implementation of Resolution 1325 of the UN Security Council.

In addition, the Armenian delegation met with Paul Savereux, newly appointed Director of NATO’s Defence Policy and Planning Division.
