National Assembly (NA) of Armenia Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov attended, on Thursday in the Argentine capital city of Buenos Aires, the inauguration of President-elect Mauricio Macri of Argentina.

Following the ceremony, Sharmazanov met with the Macri.

First, the NA deputy chairman conveyed to the new Argentine president the congratulatory message addressed to him by President Serzh Sargsyan of Armenia.

Eduard Sharmazanov also expressed satisfaction with Mauricio Macri’s personal contribution—when he was the Mayor of Buenos Aires—in the care toward the local Armenian community and the strengthening of Armenian-Argentinean ties.

In addition, the NA vice-speaker highly appreciated Macri’s assistance in organizing Armenian Genocide Centennial commemorations in Buenos Aires.

The interlocutors expressed the hope that the relations of the two friendship countries will continue to develop.

Within the framework of his visit, Edward Nalbandian also held talks with Vice President Gabriela Michetti and Minister of Foreign Affairs Susana Malcorra of Argentina.

The parties stressed the Armenian community’s exclusive role in Argentina, and expressed a conviction that this community unites the two friendship countries.
