Armenia’s FM Edward Nalbandian today held the annual consultation with Armenian ambassadors accredited in Europe and Permanent Representatives of Armenia in “Armenia” Center adjunct to the Armenian Embassy in Vienna.
Nalbandian discussed with the ambassadors the implementation process of instructions given by the President of Armenia and the implementation of tasks set by the MFA, Armenian MFA press-service reports. He also summed up the work carried out in 2015 and gave corresponding instruction on the steps to be implemented next year.
At the consultation, reference was made to the cooperation in the framework of international organizations, priorities of Armenia’s presidency in CSTO, cooperation in the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), results of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Belgrade, the Ministerial Conference of the International Organization of La Francophonie, as well as the recent developments in the area of Armenia’s foreign policy.
The meeting participants exchanged ideas on strengthening mutual relations with the European countries and launching talks on a new EU framework agreement.
At the meeting, the importance of the further development of dialogue with European countries and institutions was especially stressed, reference being made to the development of inter-parliamentary ties of the embassies’ activities, expansion of decentralized cooperation, work in the information area, etc.
Important subject of the discussions was the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The work carried out in this area was summed up. In this context, FM Nalbandian said: “The recorded results oblige us to act in a more targeted and consistent way.”
The heads of Armenia’s diplomatic missions informed about the processes going on in the countries of their accreditation and international organizations, as well as the measures taken to develop relations with Armenia.
The meeting agenda included such issues as the joint efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs aimed at the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict and the situation in the Karabakh conflict settlement process as a result of provocative actions. In this context, FM Nalbandian noted that the recent dramatic escalation of situation by Azerbaijan is a slap in the face of the co-chairing countries and international community in response to the calls voiced in Belgrade to reconfirm the commitment to the exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict through negotiations.
The consultation participants discussed in detail the work of the diplomatic representations towards foreign economic policy and the measures taken to develop trade and economic relations with partner countries.
Reference was also made to a number of pressing regional and international issues and Armenia’s stance on their solution.
