STEPANAKERT. – The situation remains tense on the frontline, and Azerbaijan continues shelling the military positions of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Defense Army.

The adversary violated the ceasefire along the Line of Contact between the Karabakh-Azerbaijani opposing forces over 120 times, from Friday to early Saturday morning.

During this time Azerbaijan fired around 1,100 shots at the Armenian military positions, and by way of rifle weaponry, mortars, a grenade launcher, and an anti-aircraft autocannon.

And as a result of the adversary’s sniper fire, Defense Army serviceman Karen Grigoryan, 20, was fatally wounded on Friday at around 8:40pm, at a military foothold of a Defense Army unit located in an easterly direction.

An investigation is underway to find out the details of this incident.

The NKR Ministry of Defense stated that Azerbaijan’s provocative actions will not go unpunished, and this country’s military and political leadership is fully accountable for this situation.
