YEREVAN. - In 5 years the Armenian Government will complete the general layouts of all the cities and villages of the republic. Minister of Urban Development Narek Sargsyan said the aforementioned, introducing the Law on Urban Development in the parliament today. The work will start already this year.
Majority of the settlements in Armenia, especially the rural ones, have no general layout. This, according to teh Minister, results in chaotic buildings.
43 out of 49 cities and only 52 out of 866 rural communities have developed general layouts. The majority of these plans was developed by the means of the State Budget for 2004-07.
Now it is proposed to work out general layouts for groups of settlements, whose linking will depend on the economic and transportation connections in each individual case. In one case their number may reach 20, and in other cases 3-5.
The majority of the funds for general layouts will be provided by the government, and in this case the expenses will significantly reduce. If the general work fund is now estimated 4,5-5 mln AMD (up to $10) development of zonal layouts will lower the expenses up to 1,5 bln.
