YEREVAN. - The unique concert of Armenian and Turkish musicians was held today in Yerevan’s Hakob Paronyan Musical Comedy Theatre in the framework of the “Melody for Harmony” intercultural initiative. The initiative is supported by the U.S. Embassy in Armenia.
U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills told the journalists that such events are of great significance for people who had contacts but not at a sufficient level. According to the Ambassador, in the framework of this initiative, the Armenian rock band “The Beautified Project”, Turkish Armenian singer Sibil and four Turkish musicians will perform in order to gift an unforgettable evening to the audience. And the music, which the audience heard today, removes barriers and opens closed borders, Ambassador Mills said.
He also noted that what unites people is their common interests, and all of them - regardless of being Armenian, American, Turkish, Russian or Iranian - are united by the common interest to music.
The premiere of the song written by Armenian and Turkish musicians was held during the concert. The name of the song is “Don’t blame me.”
A week later, on December 22, the song will premiere in Istanbul. In the Ambassador's words, this song, which is authored by “The Beautified Project” band producer Andre Simonian, embodies all those values which this initiative targets, namely harmony and unification. He also noted that the U.S. Embassy is happy to contribute to this initiative, in the framework of which harmony of melodies is being formed.
In the framework of the initiative “Melody for Harmony,” the Armenian rock band “The Beautified Project,” Turkish Armenian singer Sibil Bektorosoglu and famous Turkish folk music performers Göksel Baktagir, Burak Malchok, Osman Yurdal Tokcan and Mert Elmas performed on one stage in Yerevan today.
