YEREVAN. - All duty-free shops in Armenia will be exempted from VAT. The bill on corresponding amendments to the Law on VAT was adopted during the second and final reading of the Armenian parliament today, with 81 votes in its favor and 7 abstaining. 

The bill will exempt from VAT the duty-free shops not only in airports but also on land borders. First Deputy Minister of Economy Garegin Melkonyan earlier said that thanks to the VAT exemption it may once again be possible to operate such a trade facility on border with Iran.  Moreover, the same private investor is going to invest 1 mln euro to open such shops on border with Georgia.
