Starting from December 23, Russia will facilitate the conditions of receiving visas for Georgian citizens, the statement by the Russian MFA says. The Russian side intends to take further steps aimed at the facilitation of the communication between the citizens of both countries, without excluding the possibility of visa-free regime on the ground of reciprocity.

With the view of stimulating positive relations between the two countries, “starting from 23 December 2015, Georgian citizens will be provided with business, work, study and humanitarian visas of any term, as well as private visas regardless of the relationship between the inviting and invited persons on the basis of valid invitations issued in a manner stipulated by the Russian Federal Migration Service (FMS) authorities.

Currently, the Russians can visit Georgia freely but the Georgian citizens must get a visa permit to Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced about the readiness to cancel the visa regime with Georgia at the annual large press-conference on December 17.
