YEREVAN. – Productive cooperation between the Governments of Armenia and Georgia has given a new momentum to Armenian-Georgian relations this year.

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan on Wednesday stated the above-said at his talk with the Deputy PM and Minister of Energy of Georgia, Kakha Kaladze.

To note, the Armenian capital city of Yerevan is hosting the joint meeting of the energy ministries of Armenia, Georgia, Iran, and Russia. The event is devoted to the prospects for the development of regional cooperation in the energy sector.

Abrahamyan noted that Kaladze’s visit to Armenia will contribute to the deepening of bilateral collaboration in the energy sector, and said several joint projects are implemented with success.

The Georgian PM and energy minister, for his part, stated that his country underscores the development and strengthening of ties with Armenia. In his words, the memorandum of understanding—which Armenia, Georgia, Iran, and Russia have signed on the same day—creates a favorable basis for the development of regional cooperation in the energy sector.

At the ensuing talk, the interlocutors conferred on the avenues for making collaboration in the energy sector grow deeper. 

The Armenian Premier stressed that the signing of the aforesaid quadripartite memorandum will help implement joint regional projects in the electrical energy sector.

The parties also reflected on the prospects for the expansion of bilateral trade and economic relations.
