YEREVAN. - Armenia’s progress in World Bank’s Doing Business is apparent. Albert Babayan, Head of the Business Environment Improvement Department at Armenia’s Ministry of Economy told Armenian News – NEWS.am today.

He reminded that Armenia went up by three points in the rating, coming 35th. 

Armenia became a world leader in facilitating trading across borders. In 2014 – 15, the country carried out 19 reforms in that area. The main advantage became the republic’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). Due to the reforms, the process of filling in the documents for export and the border control may take only about 2 and 3 hours respectively. The estimated cost of filling the documents for one consignment of goods is $150.

Apart from this, Armenia is included in the list of countries which facilitated the issuance of construction permits and control over construction. Specifically, the mandatory independent expert opinion was cancelled with regard to low-risk projects.

Among the judicial reforms, Armenia has introduced random aasigns cases to the judges in Yerevan’s courts of general jurisdiction, which must reduce the corruption risks.

Armenia maintains one of the first places in the world according to the ease of registering business (5th place in the world). According to the WB specialists, it’s possible to register a business in 3 days. The republic comes the 14th according to the registration of property (the assessed time is 7 days).

Armenia falls back by the ease of getting electricity (99th place) and resolving insolvency (71st place).  According to Doing Business, up to half-year is necessary for getting electricity, while the insolvency procedures may take up to two years.
