Residents of Aratashen village in Armenia’s Armavir province, who have handed over part of their cucumber harvest to the representatives of companies located in Sasunik and Proshyan villages, have not yet received their money. Head of the village, Vahram Harutyunyan, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.

He also noted that this year they had abundant harvest of cucumbers, which the village residents can’t sell. “The villagers didn’t sign any contract with the companies. They took the cucumbers and said they would pay in 2016, but they didn’t point out to specific deadlines. However, the villagers managed to sell only small part of cucumber harvest: most of it had to be thrown away, since it had spoiled,” Harutyunyan said.

The villagers sell their harvest mainly in Armavir province, he added.  The processing companies refuse taking the whole harvest, explaining this by the fact that they already have contracts signed beforehand.
