YEREVAN. – Vice President of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Eduard Sharmazanov, on Wednesday received Argentine Ambassador Gonzalo Urriolabeitia.

The NA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that Sharmazanov, as Head of Armenia-Argentina Parliamentary Friendship Group, highlighted the activities of the parliaments, as well as the friendship groups of the two countries in the development and deepening of bilateral relations. He stressed the importance of the mutual visits, noting that Argentina is a key state in Latin America, and a friendship state for Armenia.

In the Armenian parliament deputy speaker’s words, we should preserve the traditional friendship relations with the countries, with which the Christian common values and the existence of the Armenian community of Argentina unite us.

Eduard Sharmazanov emphasized the role of Argentina in the process of the Armenian Genocide recognition.

Touching upon regional problems he noted: “It is desirable that the Parliament of Argentina have a complete perception on our region, and a picture that Azerbaijan is a serious threat in the South Caucasus.”

Eduard Sharmazanov expressed, in his and in the name of the Friendship Group, readiness to make all efforts to deepen relations and develop cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Urriolabeitia, for his part, noted that there are big opportunities to develop relations between the two countries. He assured that numerous other matters of strategic, economic, and bilateral interest are at the focus of the Argentinean authorities.
