The German politician Cem Ozdemir received numerous death threats from Turkish nationalists. The reason of the threats is the adoption of the resolution by the Bundestag on June 2 that condemns the Armenian Genocide.

The number of threats against the chairman of the Greens has reached such a level that the Federal Criminal Office had to take measures to ensure the security of the politician, writes Welt am Sonntag . "We keep in close touch with the security services . We used to receive insults, but we have not come across such a large number of death threats ,” said spokesman of Ozdemir Mark Bertolde.

"Unfortunately , there exists not only German but also Turkish Pegida ( anti-Islamic extreme right-wing movement) . There are also right-wing groups in  Turkey and among the Germany Turks, " said Ozdemir, commenting on the threats addressed to him.

Cem Ozdemir was an initiator of the resolution that condemns the Armenian Genocide. After the adoption of the resolution, Ankara recalled its ambassador from Germany, and Ozdemir became the target of criticism and insults in the Turkish press , reports the DW.
