The president of the European Parliament Martin Schulz sharply criticized the statements of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Spiegel reported quoting the letter to the leader of Turkey.
Schulz emphasized that lawmakers, irrespective of any disagreements on political affairs, should never be equated with terrorists.
He wrote that such an approach is an absolute violation of a taboo and he resolutely condemns it.
Earlier, Erdogan suggested that the deputies of Bundestag of Turkish origin, who voted for the recognition of the genocide, acted for the benefit of the forbidden Kurdistan Workers' Party, Segodnya reported.
