YEREVAN. - Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian on Friday met with the delegation of the International Center for Relativistic Astrophysics Network (ICRANet) headed by the organization’s director Remo Ruffini.  

The meeting was attended by Armenian National Academy of Sciences Radik Martirosyan, as well as ambassadors of the organization’s founder countries, Italy and Brazil. 

Welcoming the guests, FM Nalbandian noted that Armenia’s membership to ICRANet is indicative of the importance which the country attaches to the development of astrophysics and deepening of international cooperation in that area. 

For his part, Professor Ruffini stressed that Armenia’s geographical location, as well as achievements and potential in science, especially astrophysics, are very important for the development of international cooperation in that area. He highly appreciated the support of the Armenian authorities and academic circles to the opening of the organization’s representation in Yerevan.

At the meeting, views were exchanged on the prospects for ICRANet’s activity and projects to be implemented.

ICRANet, whose members are Armenia, Italy, Vatican, Brazil, as well as Arizona and Stanford Universities and International Center for Relativistic Astrophysics (ICRA), has been officially operating in Pescara city of Italy since 2005.

The objective of the organization is to implement educational end scientific study programs in the field of relativistic astrophysics, as well as promote international scientific cooperation in that area.
