Presidential elections in Romania will take place in early November, co-chair of the coalition and chair of the Senate Crin Antonescu told journalists stat November.

The decision was made at the meeting of the Social-Liberal Union ruling party, TASS reported.

During a press conference which Antonescu held together with the other co-chair of the SLU Victor Ponta, he noted that elections will be held for 45 days before the end of the current president's mandate, which expires on December 21 so that the new head of Romania could be able to begin his duties.

Leaders of the coalition also confirmed that Antonescu remains the single candidate from the coalition in the upcoming elections of the head of Romania. They disproved statements of a number of politicians and experts about allegedly inevitable disintegration of ruling coalition upcoming the elections to the European Parliament which will be held in spring. During the meeting it was decided to ban any coalition at the local level to support Basescu's former ruling Democratic Liberal Party.

The ruling coalition in Romania was formed by the Social Democratic Party and the National Liberal Party, which  received 60% of voices in December, 2012 parliamentary elections. Basescu who leads the country for the second time, will not participate in the upcoming presidential race. The relationship between the president and leaders of the ruling alliance remain tense.
