YEREVAN. – US Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills on Wednesday visited the central office of the newly formed Consolidation Party, and met with Party Chairman—and former Foreign Minister—Vartan Oskanian.

The Consolidation Party informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that Oskanian presented to the guest the main objectives behind the establishment of this new political force in Armenia, and its prospects.

Subsequently, the interlocutors discussed the country’s domestic political events, the new Electoral Code, and the possible developments ahead of the 2017 parliamentary elections.

They also conferred on the avenues for a pacific settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In this connection, Ambassador Mills stated that the US seeks a peaceful settlement by way of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group process. He added that they remain faithful to their commitment to assist in the further strengthening of democracy and the development of economy in Armenia.

Vartan Oskanian, for his part, lauded the role of the US during these 25 years of independence of Armenia, and its constructive contribution to the resolution of the Karabakh conflict and the democratization and development of Armenia.
