At least four people were killed in the north of India after the authorities hired workers to demolish a multi-storey shopping center, not evacuating people out of it, BBC reported.

Rescuers are now trying to take out those who were under the rubble of a building in the city of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. They already succeeded to get from under blockages several people alive.

Earlier the court decided that the building had been built illegally. The reasons for not evacuating people from the building before demolition are unknown.
