US Secretary of State John Kerry on Friday thanked Russia for its measures being taken to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, according to RIA Novosti news agency of Russia.

After his talk in Moscow with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the senior US official stated that he is thankful to Russian President Vladimir Putin for his leadership role on this matter.

Kerry recalled that last month, the Russian president met with his counterparts from Armenia and Azerbaijan.

He stated that avoiding a new outbreak of violence is in everyone’s interests.

John Kerry also said he has no doubt that there is potential for progress in case of Russian, American, and French assistance.
