YEREVAN. – A criminal case has been launched into the seizure of a police station in capital city Yerevan.
Press service of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that this criminal case is under consideration of the NSS Investigative Committee.
A group of armed men stormed into a police regiment, on early Sunday morning, and took several police officers hostage. One officer, deputy regiment commander Artur Vanoyan, was killed. In addition, four police officers and one of the people who participated in the attack were wounded.
Negotiations are underway to release the hostages and end the armed attack.
