YEREVAN. - Armenian Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan visited the Hospital for Inmates, where he had tête-à-tête meetings with Aram Manukyan, Hovhannes Harutyunyan and Ashot Petrosyan, getting familiarized with the conditions in which they are kept.

During the visit, Tatoyan was accompanied by the Deputy Defender on Tortures and Ill Treatment and the staff doctor.

The results of today’s visit and the monitoring carried out by the Ombudsman’s staff on these issues showed significant improvement in conditions the criminal-executive institution provide for the mentioned persons. They have been moved to brighter and newly renovated hospital wards, which are equipped with necessary medical functional beds, refrigerators, armchairs, chairs, shelves and conditioners. The right to get packages has also been ensured. The inmates are provided with necessary medical assistance; proper hygiene and bed items have been given to them.

During the tête-à-tête meetings, A. Manukyan, H. Hovhannisyan and A. Petrosyan didn’t complain of the criminal executive institution staff’s treatment to them.

The Defender’s observations will henceforth be of continuous nature.
