YEREVAN. - The march in support of Sasna Tsrer group launched from Yerevan’s Liberty Square has ended on the pavement in front of the Presidential palace in Yerevan, capital city of Armenia (photos).

The march participants moved to the Republic Square, Mashtots Avenue and then to Baghramyan Avenue to head for the Presidential Palace, Armenian News -  NEWS.am correspondent reports.

At the start of Baghramyan Avenue, the protestors were stopped by the police headed by Yerevan Chief of Police Valery Osipyan. The latter insisted that the march can be carried out only by the pavement and not the part of the street meant for driving.

Armenia’s Founding Parliament radical opposition group member Harutyun Aghlamazyan referred to the right to free movement, but Osipyan noted that the march is peaceful and they therefore permit to go to the Presidential Palace by pavement.

On the pavement in front of the Presidential Palace, the protestors scanned “Commit to earth the one who surrenders lands”, and also demanded to allow them come closer to the Presidential Palace. After Osipyan’s refusal, the march participants continued scanning and demanding to set free the political prisoners and carry out the demands of Sasna Tsrer group.

After scanning, the march participants decided to return to Liberty Square.

Another rally will take place Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
