A citizen of France managed to get permission to take her child born to a surrogate mother in Armenia only a month later, RFI reported.

In early July, the woman handed over to the French consulate the birth certificate issued by the local authorities. The document mentioned her family name in a section about parents, nevertheless, the consulate forbade her to take out the child. Then she appealed to the Administrative Court of Paris, which gave permission to take a five-week-old child to France. This decision was confirmed today the Council of State.

In a week, the woman with her child may return to France, but the Council of State is not authorized to decide whose child she is. The court has to deal with the issue. The European Court of Human Rights condemned France twice for refusing to issue birth certificates to children of surrogate mothers.
