The relationship between Turkey and Germany has worsened so that the countries have "no basis" for talks, German FM Frank-Walter Steinmeier stated.
He noted that relations between Berlin and Ankara are important from the point of view of control of mass migration to Europe, but the situation is such that there are no bases for negotiations. He reminded of Germany’s concerns over mass arrests in Turkey after failed coup attempt, Reuters reported.
"We are talking with each other like emissaries from two different planets. There is essentially no basis for understanding ... no basis for discussions," Steinmeier said.
