YEREVAN. - Based on the preliminary results of the internal investigation launched in the Armenian police in connection with the incidents which took place in Yerevan’s Khorenatsi street on July 19 and Sari Tagh district in the night of July 29 and early hours of July 30, and upon the order of the Armenian Chief of Police, a number of police officers have been subjected to disciplinary actions, the official webpage of Armenian police reports.

“Strict warnings have been made to a number of police officers for improper fulfillment of their duties, failure to correctly allocate the subordinated forces for the purpose of maintaining public order and ensuring public security, failure to take proper measures stemming from the situation, failure to restrict the entrance of march participants to the security zone, as well as failure to prevent cases of using violence against civilians and journalists and damaging the journalists’ equipment,” the statement reads, in part.  

According to the statement, considering the circumstance that the internal investigation revealed cases of disproportionate use of force by a number of police officers, the powers of certain police officers have been terminated upon the order of Armenian Chief of Police.
