German Vice-Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel is very skeptical about Turkey’s chances to join the EU in the near future.

“The illusion … here comes someone to soon become a full member in the EU … that's complete nonsense … that will not eventuate,” said Gabriel.

He added that currently the EU was not at all in shape to admit “even a small state” Deutsche Welle reported.

As to Turkey’s migrant deal with EU and visa-free regime for the Turkish citizens, Gabirel believes the issues had “nothing to do with each other.”
