YEREVAN. – First Deputy Defense Minister of Armenia Davit Tonoyan on Wednesday received Ann Stieglitz, Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) Program Manager of the US European Command; and Timothy Byrne, GPOI Program Manager and person in charge of the postgraduate peacekeeping programs of the US Naval Forces.

The interlocutors discussed Armenia’s participation in peacekeeping missions under the auspices of the UN, the holding of respective necessary training, and the upcoming programs to be carried out within the framework of the GPOI.

Armenia’s GPOI membership was approved in 2013. The main objective of this program is to assist the Armenian side in peacekeeping capacity building and engagement in the missions carried out under UN auspices.
